Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
St. Michael Lutheran Church, first established to minister to the needs of German speakers in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, now has members from both the city and the suburbs. Located on historic State Street near the river, our building was erected in 1906, the same year the Pennsylvania Capitol building was dedicated.
Over the decades we have evolved greatly. We no longer use German except to sing a single verse of Silent Night on Christmas Eve. Our membership now includes a wide diversity of people. Our congregation is known for its music and liturgical worship along with our food and fellowship. The ministries we perform and the programs we support bring many opportunities to share our love and God's grace with all whom we encounter.
Welcome to our website where we encourage you to learn more about us and our ministries in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We look forward to meeting you face-to-face soon.
May God's grace, mercy and peace be with you!
Called and empowered by Word and Sacrament and shaped by diverse traditions, we gather as a community of believers in Jesus Christ. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, we proclaim faith in our crucified and risen Lord and Savior.
Our mission in this time and place is to invite all people to share our faith in Jesus Christ. Our responsibility includes ministering to the needs and concerns of this parish and those of our neighbors in the urban community.
We believe that is is essential for all who are committed to this mission to participate actively in worship, prayer, education and congregational life. We are called to celebrate the gospel of Jesus Christ through the stewardship of our time, talents and gifts.
